§ 52.044 MAINTENANCE.
   The cost of ordinary meter maintenance shall be paid by the village. The person upon whose application any meter is installed or the then owner or occupant of the premises served shall be jointly and severally liable for any breakage or damage done to such meter, including damage by freezing or hot water, and also for the theft thereof. The cost of making good such loss or damage shall be borne by the owner or the occupant of the premises in which such meter was installed as soon as a bill for the same is presented, and if not paid, the amount therefor shall be a lien against the premises for which the meter was installed to the extent and with the same effect as that for water charges.
