10-3-6: ELECTRICAL INSPECTOR; INSPECTION OF WORK:
   A.   Electrical Inspector; Office Created, Powers And Duties:
      1.   There shall be an electrical inspector who shall be the code official. (Ord. 1993-03, 9-7-1993; amd. 2003 Code)
      2.   The electrical inspector shall have the authority to make special rulings, when circumstances warrant, for the safeguarding of life or property. The electrical contractor and the property owner will be notified in writing of special rulings.
      3.   It is the authority of the electrical inspector to inspect all electrical equipment for which a permit has been issued.
      4.   The electrical inspector shall have the power to make an annual inspection of all electrical equipment in commercial and public buildings in the city. When any electrical installations are found to be in an unsafe or hazardous condition, the electrical inspector shall notify the property owner such electrical conditions exist, and advise the property owner to take corrective action by placing electrical equipment in a safe condition. Any person, firm or corporation failing or refusing to make correction of hazardous or unsafe electrical installations, after having been notified by the electrical inspector, shall be fined according to the provisions of this chapter. Each day after the expiration of the time designated to make corrections shall constitute a separate offense. When hazardous or unsafe electrical conditions exist and any person, firm or corporation fails to make corrections after having been notified, the electrical inspector shall have the authority to order the utility company to discontinue the electric service.
      5.   The electrical inspector, while in the discharge of his official duty, shall have the authority to enter any building or premises at any reasonable hour, for the purpose of making any electrical inspection, reinspection, or test of the electrical equipment contained therein or its installation; and any person interfering with the electrical inspector shall be fined as provided for in this chapter; provided however, the inspector shall not enter private residences not then under renovation without first obtaining permission from an occupant thereof.
   B.   Inspection Of Work:
      1.   It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, corporation or individual to conceal or cause to be concealed any work for which a permit is required, until it is known by that person that the installation has been approved by the city.
      2.   It shall be the responsibility of the contractor to request all required inspections. Such request shall be made at least twenty four (24) hours prior to the desired inspection time.
      3.   New work "roughed in" shall include all electrical equipment to make the installation complete, be free from unintentional grounds, with joints properly made up, ready for the attachment of fixtures, drop lights and appliances. (Ord. 1993-03, 9-7-1993)
