6-1-3: ASSISTING ANOTHER COMMUNITY:
   A.   Approval: Approval is hereby given for service of members of the regular police department of the city as police officers of any other city or town, in an emergency situation, in the state not more than forty five (45) miles distance from the city of Chandler, when such service is requested by the mayor or chief of police of the city or town, in accordance with state law. (1985 Code § 13-503)
   B.   Written Request: Requests for service under subsection A of this section shall be made by writing or by telephone, or other means of communication, to the city manager of Chandler, who, if he determines that the request can be granted consistent with the continuance of the proper police protection to the inhabitants of Chandler, shall direct the chief of police to furnish the number of officers requested and to arrange for their transportation to the requesting municipality.    C.   Reimbursement Required: Any municipality requesting and receiving service by members of the police department of Chandler shall reimburse the city of Chandler for the cost of the transportation to and from such municipality of the officers so serving and the pro rata cost of their salaries, insurance and other benefits attributable to their service in such municipality. (1985 Code § 13-505)
   D.   Contract For Service:
      1.   Except in cases of extreme public emergency, no services shall be rendered hereunder to any municipality unless such service is in accordance with the terms of this section.
      2.   The city manager hereby is authorized to negotiate and execute contracts with the proper contracting officers of such municipalities, which shall be on a reciprocal basis, thereby securing to the city of Chandler the service of members of the police departments of such municipalities should an emergency arise necessitating such service here.
      3.   All such contracts shall be submitted to the city council for approval before becoming effective. (1985 Code § 13-506)
