§ 6-501 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this article, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   DIRECTOR. The Director of Public Works of the city or his or her designee.
   DWELLING. A residence, flat, apartment, live-work unit or other facility, which meets the applicable city codes for residential living. DWELLING does not include a hotel or motel.
   HAZARDOUS WASTE.
      (1)   All substances defined as hazardous waste, acutely hazardous waste or extremely hazardous waste in the state’s Environmental Protection Act, being Neb. RS 81-1501 et seq.;
      (2)   All wastes which may present a threat of disease or infection to humans or animals; and
      (3)   Radioactive wastes.
   HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE. Hazardous waste generated at dwellings within the city, and includes, but is not limited to, automotive fluids, paints, varnishes, solvents, pesticides, fertilizers, batteries and discarded tires.
   OWNER. The person(s) or entity(ies) holding legal title to the premises.
   PREMISES. Any building or lot within the city boundaries.
   SOLID WASTE. Putrescible and non-putrescible solid and semisolid waste including garbage, trash, refuse, paper, rubbish, ashes, industrial waste, demolition and construction wastes, discarded home and industrial appliances, manure, vegetable or animal solid and semisolid wastes, and other discarded solid and semisolid wastes but does not include abandoned vehicles and vehicle parts, hazardous waste or yard waste.
   TENANT. When used with reference to a dwelling shall mean any person or persons, other than the owner, occupying or in possession of the dwelling.
   WASTE CONTRACTOR. The entity granted a contract by the city to collect and dispose of solid waste generated within the city limits.
   YARD WASTE. Vegetative matter resulting from landscaping maintenance, including accumulation of lawn, grass, shrubbery cuttings or clippings and dry leaf rakings, palm fronds, tree branches, bushes or shrubs, green leaf cuttings, fruits or other matter usually created as refuse in the care of lawns and yards.
