(A) Policy. Different degrees of force are sometimes justified, depending on the facts pertaining to the situation. Therefore, in each individual situation, lawful and proper force is only that force necessary to control and stop unlawful resistance and to ensure that there will be no further physical attack against police officers or any other person.
(B) Rule. In no instance shall police officers of the Police Department use any force other than force required to lawfully and in the proper manner stop or neutralize an unlawful assault, or such force as is required to overcome any resistance of a person or persons being taken into custody as a result of a lawful arrest.
