(A) Officers shall, at all times when on duty, remain awake, alert and use reasonable diligence in preventing or detecting criminal violations, protecting property and making apprehensions of persons committing crimes in their presence and those persons whom they have reasonable cause to believe have committed felonies.
(B) Violation of this provision shall be considered to be neglect of duty.
