(A) The fees for all permits required under the provisions of this chapter shall be the fees set forth in division (B) below, it being the intention, however, that only one fee shall be charged. This permit fee shall, however, be in addition to any hook-on or other connection charges, electric meter base charges or other fees charged pursuant to other ordinances.
(B) The following fees for building and service permits shall apply. All fees will be charged in even- dollar sums only:
(1) Building permits (minimum permit fee: $50):
(a) New one- and two-family dwellings: $0.10 per square foot. (This includes modular homes and relocation of existing homes.) Note: square footage is based on the outside dimensions of the house including the attached garage, second story and finished or partially finished basement areas;
(b) Manufactured homes: $0.10 per square foot;
(c) Accessory structures (new residential garages, carport, decks, porches, sheds and pole barns): $0.08 per square foot (minimum $50);
(d) Residential room additions: $0.10 per square foot (minimum $50);
(e) Residential remodeling: $2.50 per $1,000 of actual cost (minimum $50);
(f) Mobile homes, requires only the following: improvement location permit, electrical permit and plumbing permit (Building permit will not be issued.); and
(g) Commercial, institutional or industrial: $2 per $1,000 of actual cost (minimum $100).
(2) Electrical permit:
(a) Residential: $50; and
(b) Commercial: $100.
(3) Plumbing permit:
(a) Residential: $50; and
(b) Commercial: $100.
(4) Mechanical permit, heating or AC or ventilation:
(a) Residential: $50; and
(b) Commercial: $100.
(5) Swimming pool permit:
(a) Residential: $50; and
(b) Commercial: $100.
(6) Re-inspection: $50;
(7) Certificate of occupancy: $50;
(8) Work stared without permit: doubled original permit fee;
(9) Plan review: $50;
(10) Extension of permit (one time): no charge;
(11) Renewal permit: one-half original fee; and
(12) Lot improvement: $150.
(C) The minimum permit fee for any permit shall be $15. For unusually large or complex buildings or structures, the Building Commissioner shall have the power to increase the number of required inspections by 50%. The Building Commissioner shall, in all cases, designate the stage of construction when each required inspection must be requested by permit holder. No concrete shall be placed for foundations without prior inspection. No electrical, mechanical, plumbing or thermal insulation work shall be covered without prior inspection.
(D) Where additional inspections are required due to failure of the permit holder to have work ready for inspection at a designated state of construction, the Building Commissioner shall have the power to assess a reinspection fee of $15 for each additional inspection. Reinspection fees shall be paid to the Building Commissioner and turned in to the town’s Clerk-Treasurer to be deposited in the town general funds.
(E) The Building Commissioner shall submit monthly reports and an annual report to the Town Council on inspections performed and permit fees collected on all permits.
