(A) This chapter applies to all hotels, motels and dwellings.
(B) A totally sprinkled building (conforming to Uniform Building Code standards at the time of construction) is exempt from the requirements of this chapter.

Though I.C. 36-1-3-8 provides that municipalities may not impose penalties for conduct proscribed by state statute, the city has chosen to include this chapter in order to assist the Fire Chief in the performance of his or her required duties under I.C. 22-12-1-1 et seq.
