(a) All appointments made on or after September 13, 1982, for full-time officers within the Police Department shall be of persons who are bona fide residents of the Village.
(b) Persons may be appointed who certify in writing that they will become residents of the Village within six months after appointment. Appointees who fail to acquire or retain their residence within the Village shall be dismissed from employment.
(c) A variance to this residency requirement may be granted to an officer for a particular dwelling place if such a request in writing is received from an officer, and such request is approved by Council by resolution.
