§ 50.52 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this subchapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates, or requires, a different meaning.
   BACKFLOW. A hydraulic condition, caused by a difference in pressures, in which non-potable water, or other fluids, flow into a potable water system.
   BACKFLOW PREVENTER. A device, or means, to prevent backflow.
   DOUBLE-CHECK VALVE ASSEMBLY (DC). A complete assembly meeting applicable AWWA standards, and the requirements of the State Plumbing Code consisting of two internally loaded, independently operating check valves between two tightly closing, resilient-seated shutoff valves, with four properly placed resilient-seated test cocks.
   REDUCED-PRESSURE PRINCIPLE BACKFLOW PREVENTION ASSEMBLY (RP). A complete assembly meeting applicable AWWA standards, and the requirements of the State Plumbing Code consisting of a hydraulically operating, mechanically independent differential relief valve located between two independently operating, internally loaded check valves that are located between two tightly closing, resilient-seated shutoff valves with four properly placed resilient-seated test cocks.
