6-1-2: POLICE:
The Mayor of the City shall have the right and power to appoint policemen whenever in his judgment the same may be necessary for the preservation of the peace of the City or the protection of persons or property. The policemen so appointed shall be reported by the Mayor to the City Council at its next meeting for confirmation by them. The Mayor or Council shall have the right to revoke the appointment for any policemen as appointed as aforesaid with or without cause, whenever in his or their judgment the same are not necessary. The policemen shall be commissioned by the Mayor and attested by the Clerk under the Seal of the City and such policemen when appointed shall possess the powers of regular policemen in the City.
