5-3-8: SERVICE OUTSIDE CORPORATE LIMITS:
   (A)   Authorized: Members of the Fire Department together with firetrucks and equipment are authorized to go outside the corporate limits of the City but within Hancock County, Illinois, for the purpose of rendering aid to other Fire Departments under a mutual aid agreement or a rescue call or extinguishing fires or rendering aid in case of accident; provided, the Fire Department shall not render such service outside the corporate limits except upon orders of the Chief of the Fire Department, Assistant Chief of the Fire Department or the Mayor and then in that event, at least one working pumper truck together with necessary equipment and personnel shall remain in the City at all times to ensure full time City fire protection.    (B)   Fees: The fees charged by the Fire Department for answering fire or other calls outside the City limits of the City of Carthage, including traffic accidents, shall be the sum of six hundred dollars ($600.00) for the first hour or part thereof, and six hundred dollars ($600.00) for each hour or part thereof thereafter.
The Fire Chief shall provide the City Clerk with billing information regarding such calls, including the name, address and telephone number of persons for whom the call was made, the nature of the service rendered, and in case of vehicle accidents, the name and driver's license number of the driver or other responsible person, the make, license number, model and year of the vehicle, and auto insurance information regarding the vehicle, including the name and address of the insurance company and the policy number. The City Clerk shall bill all charges within seven (7) days from the time they are incurred, and as to vehicles, the bill shall go directly to the insurance company with a copy to the driver or other responsible person.
