§ 14-3-18 WEAPONS; POSSESSION IN MOTOR VEHICLES.
   (A)   It shall be unlawful for any person to possess, carry or transport any firearms, air guns or other projectile-type weapons in the passenger compartment area of a motor vehicle within the village limits.
   (B)   Exceptions include:
      (1)   A peace officer or any officer of any court whose duty it may be to serve warrants or make arrests;
      (2)   Firearms that are broken down in a non-functioning state;
      (3)   Firearms that are not immediately accessible; and
      (4)   Firearms that are unloaded and enclosed in a case, firearm carrying box, shipping box or other container by a person who has been issued a currently valid firearm owner’s identification card.
   (C)   Persons found in violation of this section shall be fined not less than $50 for each offense and have the firearm air gun or other projectile-type weapon confiscated by the village.
