The corporate authorities shall employ an attorney or firm of attorneys as the Village Attorney for the village, either as an officer or as an independent contractor. If serving as an officer, the Village Attorney shall take an oath of office and post a bond in the amount of $1,000. The cost of such bond shall be paid by the village.
