The Auditing Official is responsible for determining whether improper government actions and/or retaliation have occurred under this policy and/or the Public Officer Prohibited Activities Act. In doing so, the Auditing Official has the power and authority to conduct investigations consistent with this policy, seek legal advice, and/or transfer a report to outside investigators for investigation, including but not limited to the local State's Attorney. In the event the Auditing Official concludes that an improper government action and/or retaliation has occurred or that a Village of Carol Stream official has hindered the investigation, the Auditing Official shall notify the Mayor and anyone else that the Auditing Official deems appropriate.
