A. Compliance With Specifications: Only uniform items and accessories in conformance with specifications and approved organizational pins and medals will be worn as a regular visible part of the uniform.
B. Cap: The uniform hat or cap as part of the uniform, will be worn at all times except when in a vehicle or when decorum dictates its removal.
C. Complete Uniform To Be Worn: The complete uniform of the day, with appropriate accessories, will be worn at all times while on duty unless otherwise directed by the chief.
D. Fit; Condition Of Uniform: Uniforms and accessories will fit properly, be clean and neatly pressed, and free from rips, tears, holes, frayed edges, missing buttons, and faded colors.
E. Maintenance Of Certain Items: A high polished lustre will be maintained on leather belts, shoes, holster, handcuff cases, buckles and snaps.
F. Off Duty Prohibitions: No part of the uniform or issued uniform accessories will be worn off duty.
G. Coworkers To Wear Same Uniform: When two (2) or more police personnel wearing issued uniforms are working together, they will all be attired in the same class uniform.
H. Responsibility For Missing Items: Uniform or accessory items lost, destroyed, or stolen due to negligence will be paid for by the negligent person.
I. Sleeve Emblems:
1. Sleeve emblems will be securely sewn on the uniforms and will not be creased.
2. Each uniform shirt, jacket, and coverall shall have a Carmi police department patch sewn on the right and left sleeve.
3. Chevrons shall be sewn on both sleeves just below the Carmi police department patch on all but the summer shirt.
J. Pocket Appearances: Pockets will not be stuffed with items resulting in a bulging appearance.
K. Moustaches: Moustaches will be neatly trimmed and not excessive in length.
L. Beards: No beards are to be worn.
M. Type To Be Worn: Type of uniform worn will be determined by the chief, and notices will be posted indicating changes from summer to winter wear. (Ord. 1017, eff. 4-16-1981)
