5-1-20: POLICE FIREARMS REGULATIONS:
   A.   Officers Provide Firearm; Authorization: All police officers will furnish their own sidearms. All sidearms carried by members of the Carmi police department shall be authorized by the chief of police.
   B.   Specifications: All sidearms carried by members of the Carmi police department shall have a barrel length of at least three inches (3") and no more than six inches (6").
   C.   Training; Qualification For Shooting:
      1.   Required Qualification; Records And Reports: Each member of the Carmi police department shall be required to qualify one time each year with his sidearm. Records will be maintained by the firearms training officer on the ability of each officer to use his sidearm. The firearms training officer will make a report to the chief of police after each qualification shoot.
      2.   Changing Sidearms: No officer will be allowed to change to another sidearm until he has presented that sidearm and the leather gear it is to be carried in to the chief of police for inspection. After the sidearm and gear have passed inspection, the officer must qualify with it at a regularly scheduled qualification.
      3.   Off Duty Weapons: When using a different sidearm as an off duty weapon, the officer must qualify with it as well as his duty weapon and must furnish his own ammunition for the qualification. (Ord. 1265, 4-20-1998)
