4-1-6: BOND AND DUTIES OF TREASURER; DEPARTMENT FUNDS:
   A.   Bond: The treasurer, before taking office, shall execute and file with the city clerk, a sufficient bond to the city, to be approved by the mayor and city council, conditioned for the faithful performance of his duties under this chapter.
   B.   Department Funds:
      1.   All monies collected for and on behalf of the fire department are to be received and paid to the city treasurer.
      2.   The city shall, from time to time, pay to the treasurer of the fire department sums of money to establish and maintain a petty cash fund for the fire department. The balance from time to time in said petty cash fund shall not exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000.00). Expenditures from the petty cash fund by the fire department shall be approved from time to time by the fire department committee of the city council.
   C.   Reports Required: The treasurer shall make monthly reports to the fire department of the condition of the funds in his hands and shall, on the first Tuesday of December in each year, make a sworn report and statement to the mayor and city council of all monies received and disbursed by him as such treasurer and the balance of monies in his hands.
   D.   Books, Records And Accounts:
      1.   The books, records and accounts of the treasurer shall be faithfully kept and shall, at all times, be open to inspection and audit of the mayor and city council.
      2.   The treasurer shall, at the expiration of his term of office, surrender, pay and deliver to his successor in office, all books, records, accounts and monies in his hands as treasurer. (Ord. 1081, 10-1-1984; amd. 2006 Code)
