610.02 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)   “Air contaminant” means any smoke, soot, fly ash, dust, cinders, dirt, fumes, gas, vapor, liquid, particulate or odorous matter, not including uncombined water vapor.
   (b)   “Air pollution” means the presence in the ambient air of one or more air contaminants or any combination thereof in such quantities and of such characteristics and duration as to injure or tend to injure human health or welfare, plant or animal life or property, or interfere with the enjoyment of life or the use of property.
   (c)   “Energy fuel” means gasoline, wood, coal, coke, gas, oil, electricity and trade waste, excluding garbage, when burned for the purpose of generating heat, steam or energy for power, processing or space heating.
   (d)   “Energy unit” means a gasoline or diesel motor, stove, boiler, incinerator, combustion chamber, furnace, heating unit or household fireplace, all of which must have a stack or flue and, when so required and ordered by the Building Inspector, be equipped with mechanical devices to reduce air pollution.
   (e)   “Garbage” means putrescible animal and vegetable wastes resulting from the handling, preparation, cooking and consumption of food.
   (f)   “Incinerator” means any article, machine, equipment, contrivance, structure or part of a structure used to burn solid waste, trade waste or refuse.
   (g)   “Person” means any individual, firm, public or private corporation, association, business trust, company, partnership, contractor, supplier, installer, user, operator or owner, or any political subdivision or employee thereof, or any other entity.
   (h)   “Refuse” means ashes, bottles, tin cans, broken glass, crockery, cast iron, printed matter, paper and discarded clothing.
   (i)   “Salvage operation” means any business, trade, industry or other activity conducted in whole or in part for the purpose of salvaging or reclaiming any useful product or usable material.
   (j)   “Smoke” means small gas-borne particles resulting from incomplete combustion, consisting primarily of carbon.
   (k)   “Solid waste” means unwanted residual solid or semisolid material, including garbage, street dirt and debris.
   (l)   “Trade waste” means solid, liquid or gaseous materials resulting from construction, from the pursuit of any business, trade or industry or from any demolition operation.
