557.01 NOXIOUS WEEDS.
   (a)   Upon information that noxious weeds are growing on lands within the village and are about to spread or mature seeds, the Mayor, or his duly appointed agent, shall cause a written notice to be served upon the owner, lessee, agent or tenant having charge of such land, notifying him that such noxious weeds are growing on such lands and that they must be cut and destroyed within seven days after the service of such notice. If the owner or other person having charge of such lands is a nonresident whose address is known, such notice shall be sent to his address by registered mail. If the address of the owner is unknown, it shall be sufficient to publish such notice once in a newspaper of general circulation in Wyandot County, Ohio.
   (b)   Any police officer may make service and return of the notice provided for in this section.
   (c)   If the lessee, agent or tenant having charge of the lands herein fails to comply with such notice, the Mayor, or his duly appointed agent, shall cause the noxious weeds to be cut and destroyed and the expenses so incurred paid out of the treasury of the Village.
