523.01 DEFINITIONS.
   As used in this chapter:
   (a)    "Litter" means any garbage, waste, peelings of vegetables or fruits, rubbish, ashes, cans, bottles, wire, paper, cartons, boxes, parts of automobiles, tires from equipment or vehicles, wagons, furniture, glass, oil of an unsightly or unsanitary nature, or anything else of an unsightly, unhealthy, and/or unsanitary nature. (Tire swings are permitted.)
   (b)    "Person" includes a natural person, a corporation, partnership, trust, company, or any other form of artificial person recognized in law.
   (c)    "Waste" means solid waste as defined in Ohio R.C. 3734.01(E), as amended from time to time, unwanted solid or semi-solid material resulting from industrial, commercial, agricultural, residential, and community operations, also including pieces of cement or sidewalk or construction debris; plant waste material, including tree trimmings, branches, stumps, weeds, leaves, grass, shrubbery, yard trimmings and crop residue.
   (d)    "Garbage" means waste material resulting from handling, processing, preparing, cooking, and consuming food or food products.
   (e)    "Rubbish" means any materials or objects discarded or rejected as worthless or useless which are not otherwise defined or described in this chapter.
   (f)    "Approved storage receptacle" means a leak-proof container with a close-fitting cover, that is essentially impermeable to dogs, rodents, and other vermin, and which, if not specifically designed to be emptied by mechanical means, has sturdy handles or grips to facilitate emptying. Fixed rate trash bags provided by refuse haulers shall be an exception to this requirement.
   (g)    "Residential" means any building or structure with three or fewer dwelling units.
