139.01 AUXILIARY UNIT.
   The following provisions with respect to the Village Police Department Auxiliary Unit are adopted, affirmed, confirmed and ratified to the extent required:
   (a)   The members of the Village of Cardington’s Auxiliary Police Unit within the Cardington Village Police Department established effective May 15, 1968 have had, since its inception and shall continue to have, all police powers, and their actions, as such, shall be deemed to have occurred pursuant to said powers, but said auxiliary members shall perform only such police duties as assigned by the Village Marshall.
   (b)   Said auxiliary police officers have historically and shall continue to serve so long as the Mayor may direct or until a resignation submitted by any such member is accepted by the Mayor. Service performed by auxiliary members shall be on a voluntary basis within the Village.
   (c)   The Mayor has historically and shall continue to prescribe rules for the organization, administration, conduct and control of the auxiliary police unit.
   (d)   To the extent that Ordinance No. 68-6 or Ordinance No. 91-8 is inconsistent with the provisions of this Ordinance, they shall be deemed amended. It is intended that this Ordinance shall serve as a clarification, affirmation and confirmation of the Cardington Police Department Auxiliary Unit and to the extent necessary ratification of all actions taken by auxiliary police officers operating for and on behalf of the Village of Cardington Police Department Auxiliary Unit since its inception in 1968 to the effective date of this section.
