(a) Permits. No service connection shall be made without the tap in fee having been paid and permit granted by the Village.
(b) Materials Specifications. For service lines up to 2”, minimum size is ¾”.
(1) Polyethylene. SDR7 rated for 200PSI burst strengthen meeting ASTM standards D 2239-81. All fittings shall be brass barb fitting with 2 stainless steel clamps per connection.
(2) Type K Copper. Meeting ASTM B251 standards. All fitting shall be compression type.
(c) Construction Details.
(1) All water service lines shall be buried at a minimum of 3 feet.
(2) A shut off valve shall be installed immediately inside the building.
(3) The Village shall make the final connection into the curb stop or meter pit.
(4) No taps will be made on another individual’s service line for the purpose of acquiring water service.
(5) If any Contractor or owner shall neglect or refuse to do anything required by these regulations, fail to adequately repair and restore paving or sidewalks that are damaged in the laying of any service line, fails to assume liability for all damages arising from excavations and making connections with, and openings into water mains, subsoil drains and utility service lines, whether above or below ground and regardless of whether damages occur within public rights-of-way, dedicated easement areas, or on private properties, fail to regrade settled back fill or reseed areas for which he is responsible or fail to repair damaged public property within a reasonable time (normally 96 hours) after receiving written notice from the Water- Wastewater Supervisor to do so, the Water-Wastewater Supervisor may cause such work to be done under contract, without advertising, with some capable person and the bill for the entire cost of the same shall be rendered to the Owner who shall be liable for paying all cost incurred.
(6) Damage, defects, or other problems with the water mains, not necessarily caused by the service line installation or attributable to building activities (concrete delivery truck traffic, foundation excavation, landscaping excavation, etc.) will be the responsibility of the owner of the building lot involved. Failure to make adequate repairs within a reasonable period of time (normally 96 hours) after receiving written notification from the Water-Wastewater Supervisor to do so may cause the Water-Wastewater Supervisor to have such work done under contract, without advertising, with some capable person and the bill for the entire cost of the same shall be rendered to the owner of the building lot who shall be liable for and shall pay all costs incurred.
(d) Ownership. The service line from the curb stop or meter pit located within the easement to the house or building being served shall be the sole responsibility of the individual property owner.
