18-15-23: USE OF MOTORIZED OR ELECTRIC SCOOTERS, POCKET BIKES, AND SIMILAR DEVICES PROHIBITED:
   A.   No person shall operate upon the public streets or other public property, including, but not limited to, parks, rights of way, parking lots, or sidewalks, a motorized or electric scooter, a pocket bike, all-terrain vehicle, an off highway motorcycle, golf cart or other similar device, unless that vehicle is properly registered, insured, and complies with all other laws of the Illinois vehicle code or meets the provisions of chapter 16 of this title, including that the driver be in possession of a valid driver's license and liability insurance.
   B.   Nothing in this section applies to a person with disabilities operating an electric personal assistive mobility device, or motorized wheelchairs, as permitted by the Illinois vehicle code.
   C.   Exception: This section shall not apply to micromobility vehicles as defined in chapter 14 of this title. (Ord. 2015-29; Ord. 2021-14)
