The owner of a restricted access multiple dwelling building, restricted access commercial building or public building is required to properly install and maintain a key box of a type approved by the Fire Chief or Police Chief or their designee. The Fire Chief or Chief of Police or their designee is authorized to require more than one key box on large building complexes with multiple secured entry points for occupants. Where access is restricted because of secured gates, the Fire Chief or Chief of Police or their designee is authorized to require a key box to be properly installed and maintained in an accessible location as close as possible to the gate.
