171.01 DEPUTY CLERKS.
   (a)   There is hereby created the office of Deputy Clerk of the Mayor's Court of the Municipality, the number of such Deputy Clerks to be determined by the Mayor from time to time as the need therefor arises or as shall be otherwise determined by Council.
   (b)   The duties of the Deputy Clerk of the Mayor's Court shall be to:
      (1)   Fix the amount of bail in cases of misdemeanor or ordinance offense in accordance with a schedule previously fixed by the Mayor and to do so only in the Municipal Building and in connection therewith to sign such evidences of receipt or of record on behalf of the Mayor as are necessary to properly carry out the performance of such duty.
      (2)    Take acknowledgments of affidavits charging violations within the jurisdiction of the Mayor's Court and to do so only in the Municipal Building.
 
   (c)   The Mayor shall select persons to be Deputy Clerks of the Mayor's Court and shall appoint them with consent of Council.
   (d)   Deputy Clerks of the Mayor's Court shall receive no compensation.
