Fire lanes shall be of such width (or wider if requested by the property owner) as is reasonably determined by the Director of Public Safety as necessary to permit access and operation of the fire-fighting equipment and personnel and the egress of occupants. Fire lanes shall be suitably marked by appropriate markings on the ground and by displaying adequate signs. The markings shall be placed and maintained by the property owner in accordance with standards as prescribed by state law, and all costs associated with the marking and maintenance of fire lanes shall be the responsibility of the property owner. Failure to place or maintain markings shall subject the property owner to the penalty provisions of Section 908.99 herein.
