A. The city may inspect grease interceptors (i.e., traps, oil/water separators) to insure proper installation and maintenance. Users may be required to reimburse the city for cleaning and additional maintenance of public sewer mains due to discharge of grease caused by noncompliance with these rules and regulations.
B. In the event the city, during routine line maintenance, discovers an accumulation of grease in a public line sufficient to restrict the normal flow of waste, upstream IUs shall be inspected. When the city determines which user was responsible for the grease or oil discharge, the user may be required to cease discharge of the prohibited waste, install an interceptor, and shall maintain the interceptor, and may be charged for the cost of cleaning the line.
