(a) Council hereby approves the establishment of a City of Canal Winchester Juvenile Diversion Program.
(b) The City of Canal Winchester Juvenile Diversion Program shall process potential charges involving first offense misdemeanor offenses committed by offenders under the age of eighteen who attend school in Canal Winchester, Groveport, Pickerington or Bloom Carroll school districts; and are referred to the Magistrate for the City of Canal Winchester Mayor’s Court by the Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office, pursuant to the Juvenile Diversion Program policies.
(c) The Mayor is hereby to take such action as is necessary for the establishment of a juvenile diversion program, including without limitation, entering into any agreements with Franklin and Fairfield County officials, establishing the training and procedures for the Fairfield County Sheriff to administer the program, and, in conjunction with the City Law Director, promulgating such policies, rules and regulations as are necessary to carry the juvenile diversion program into effect.
