(a) Except where specifically defined herein, all words used in this Zoning Code shall carry customary meanings. Words used in the present tense include the future tense; the plural includes the singular and the singular includes the plural; the word "lot" includes the words "parcel" and "plot"; the word "building" includes the word "structure"; the word "shall"
is a
mandatory requirement, the word "
may
" is a permissive requirement, and the word "should" is a preferred requirement; the words "used" or "occupied" include the words "intended, designed, or arranged to be used or occupied"; and the word "person" includes a firm, association, organization, partnership, trust, company, or corporation as well as an individual.
(b) Words not particularly defined herein shall be defined as found in The New Illustrated Book of Development Definitions, Center for Urban Policy Research, Rutgers University. If not defined therein, words shall be defined as found in Random House Webster’s Unabridged Dictionary on CD-ROM.
