In the interest of public safety, and the safety and protection of the Police, Fire and other safety forces of the City, any resident of the City who shall possess, hold or own any of the wild animals defined in Section 505.15(b) within the corporation limits of the City at the time of the effective date of this section, shall register that ownership or possession of that wild animal with the City Police Department. The registration shall be kept confidential by the City and shall be maintained strictly for the purpose of the safety and welfare of the public and the City’s Police, Fire, and other safety forces. The registration shall include the owner(s) name, address, telephone number, business or work address, business or work telephone number, type and species of wild animal possessed, number or quantity of such wild animals owned or possessed, the date ownership or possession was taken by the resident, and the approximate age of the wild animal. Each resident owning or possessing any such wild animal duly registered shall be required to provide to the City Police Department any changes in the status of that information registered, including: changes in ownership, changes in addresses or telephone numbers, extended temporary or permanent removal of the wild animal from the municipal corporation limits, and the death of any such wild animal.
