This chapter is adopted pursuant to the authority vested in Camden County by the General Statutes of North Carolina and other applicable laws. The purpose of this chapter is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of Camden County residents and the animals residing within the county and to regulate and control the conduct, keeping, and care of those animals. Provided, however, nothing in this chapter shall relieve any citizen or resident of Camden County from fully complying with all applicable state and federal laws and regulations which may be more restrictive.
