Every driver's permit as required by this division issued on or after March 1, 1984, shall thereafter expire on the date of expiration of the permittee's South Carolina driver's license; provided, however, that no permit issued under this chapter shall expire within 90 days after being issued. Any permit which would expire within 90 days after issue shall expire on the date of expiration of the permittee's driver's license next following such 90-day period.
