§ 37.15 PARTICIPATION OF CERTAIN OFFICIALS IN HOSPITAL, LIFE INSURANCE PROGRAMS.
   (A)   Elected and appointed officials and officers of the city, who were elected or appointed prior to May 1, 1988, not otherwise considered regular and permanent salaried employees of the city under the provisions of this chapter, may elect to participate in the medical, dental, and life insurance programs provided by the city for regular and permanent salaried employees, subject to the requirements of the insurers providing the insurance coverage, and if participating therein upon termination of office after attaining the age of 65 years and having had not less than ten years consecutive terms of elective or appointive office as of and immediately preceding termination of office or, before attaining the age of 65 years and having had not less than 15 consecutive years of elective or appointive office as of and immediately preceding termination of office, shall be entitled to the benefits provided retiring regular and permanent salaried employees of the city under the provisions of § 37.26; except that said elected or appointed officials shall bear the entire cost of all insurance coverage until attaining the age of 65.
   (B)   Elected and appointed officials and officers of the city who were elected or appointed on or after May 1, 1988, not otherwise considered regular and permanent salaried employees of the city under the provisions of this chapter, may elect to participate in the medical, dental, and life insurance programs provided by the city for regular and permanent salaried employees, subject to the requirements of the insurers providing the insurance coverage, except that said coverage shall be available only for the elected or appointed official and shall be limited to the term during which the elected or appointed official serves.
