5-3-8: DOG KENNELS:
   A.   Dog kennels are expressly forbidden within the City limits. A "dog kennel" shall have the definition set forth in 10-1-3.
   B.   Allowable Number of Dogs Per Principal Dwelling Unit;
      1.   It shall be unlawful to keep, maintain, or possess upon the premises of any Principal Dwelling Unit located on less than 1 acre in size more than four (4) dogs. Provided further that in the event the number of dogs upon the premises of any one Principal Dwelling Unit exceeds the number of four (4) for the reason that newborn puppies have been born to a dog living on the premises, then and in that event, it shall be lawful to keep, maintain and possess upon said premises, said puppies until they reach the age of one hundred eighty (180) days.
      2.    It shall be unlawful to keep, maintain, or possess upon the premises of any Principal Dwelling Unit located on 1 acre or larger more than six (6) dogs. Provided further that in the event the number of dogs upon the premises of any one Principal Dwelling Unit exceeds the number of six (6) for the reason that newborn puppies have been born to a dog living on the premises, then and in that event, it shall be lawful to keep, maintain and possess upon said premises, said puppies until they reach the age of one hundred eighty (180) days.
      3.   It shall be unlawful to keep, maintain or possess upon the premises of any approved Accessory Dwelling Unit more than one (1) dog. Provided further that in the event the number of dogs upon the premises of any one Accessory Dwelling Unit exceeds the number of one (1) for the reason that newborn puppies have been born to a dog living on the premises, then and in that event, it shall be lawful to keep, maintain and possess upon said premises, said puppies until they reach the age of one hundred eighty (180) days.
