242.06 AUXILIARY POLICE FORCE.
   (a)   There is hereby established an Auxiliary Police Force within the Municipality whose members shall be appointed by the Mayor upon approval of Council.
   (b)   Auxiliary police officers shall serve so long as the Mayor may direct or until a resignation in writing is submitted by any such member. The members of the Auxiliary Police Force shall be residents of Noble County and must be at least twenty-one years of age at the time of their appointment.
   (c)   The Chief of Police shall be the commanding officer of the Auxiliary Police Force and, subject to the approval of the Mayor, shall have the control of the management, training, stationing and direction of the Force. Members of the Auxiliary Police Force shall perform only such duties as are assigned by the Chief of Police and shall act only when in the prescribed uniform. The Chief of Police shall prescribe the time and place such uniform shall be worn. Members shall obey the chain of command in the Police Department and shall take orders from all regularly appointed members thereof.
   (d)   The Chief of Police shall, with the approval of the Mayor, prescribe the rules and regulations of the conduct and control of the Auxiliary Police Force.
   (e)   The Chief of Police, upon consultation with the Mayor, is authorized to prescribe the type of uniform which shall be worn by the members of the Auxiliary Police Force.
   (f)   The salary of members of the Auxiliary Police Force shall be one dollar ($1.00) per year.
   (g)   The Mayor, upon consultation with Council, is authorized and directed to promulgate such orders, rules and regulations as, in his or her discretion, are either necessary or desirable in administration of the Auxiliary Police Force.
   (h)   Members of the Auxiliary Police Force, while on duty, are authorized to carry firearms and make arrests. Such officers must, before entering upon their duties as auxiliary policemen, give a bond signed by a bonding or surety company authorized to do business in the State of Ohio and to be approved by Council in an amount of not less than five thousand dollars ($5,000) conditioned for the faithful performance of the duties of the auxiliary policeman and the lawful use of weapons in his or her control. The expense or premium for such bond shall be paid by the auxiliary police officer and shall be filed with the Mayor and kept in his or her office. Council may require the auxiliary police officer at any time during his or appointment to give a new bond.
