Resignations of elective officers and of officers appointed by the Council shall be made in writing and filed with the Clerk, who shall immediately notify the Council. The resignation of all other officers shall be made in writing and filed with the Mayor. No resignation from office shall be effective until twenty-one (21) days after it has been filed, unless accepted by the Council or Mayor, as the case may be, prior to the expiration of such time.
