The Police Department, Fire Department, and all ambulances shall have the right-of-way on any street. On the approach of any fire apparatus, police patrol, or ambulance, all other vehicles on the street shall draw up as near as possible to the right-hand curb of the street and remain there, at a standstill, until any such fire apparatus, police patrol, or ambulance shall have passed, and shall, at no time, follow any such fire apparatus within 300 feet while the same is responding to an alarm.
