§ 37.04 DUTY TO RESPOND TO CITATION.
   (A)   All pleas arising from the issuance of a citation under this chapter shall be made pursuant to Texas Code of Criminal Procedure § 27.14. On or before the appearance time indicated on a citation, a person cited shall submit a plea to each charge indicated on the citation. The person may enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or no contest. The pleas may be submitted by mail, in person, or by other method acceptable to the municipal court.
   (B)   A person may enter a plea of guilty or no contest to a charge on a citation by paying the fine for the charge.
   (C)   A person issued a citation, as authorized by this chapter, commits an offense if the person fails to appear or enter a plea. Failure to either pay the fine or appear in municipal court at the time and date requested may result in a warrant to be issued.
