§ 71.01 SPEED LIMITS.
   (A)   The Town Council, herein known as local authority in the authority’s jurisdiction, determines on the basis of an engineering and traffic investigation the legal prima facia speed for an urban district and alleys in accordance with the state code of 30 mph for streets and 15 mph for alleys, is greater than reasonable and unsafe under the conditions found to exist on the streets and highways of the town.
   (B)   Because the minimum width of streets and alleys within the city limits and because of the close proximity of houses and lack of pedestrian walkways and sidewalks, the local authority deems it necessary to exercise its authority given in accordance with I.C. 9-21-5-6(a)(1) and 9-21-5-6(a)(4) and alter the legal prima facia speed limits within the town limits.
      (1)   The legal and safe maximum speed on all streets within the town limits is herein set at 25 mph.
      (2)   The legal and safe maximum speed on all alleys is herein set at ten mph.
      (3)   Exception to the legal and safe maximum speed is East and West Broadway, more commonly known as SR 218, which will remain as posted.
