381.02 LICENSE REQUIRED.
   No person shall carry on or engage in the business of operating taxicabs on and over the streets, avenues and other public places in the City, until such person shall have first obtained a license and shall have paid the license fee therefor.
   Each driver of a taxicab licensed hereunder shall be required to acquire a license from the Chief of Police, or his designee. Such license shall be specific to the individual and not transferable. Each applicant for a taxicab driver's license shall pay a mandatory fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00).
   Operating a taxicab without a valid license issued by the Bucyrus Police Department shall be an unclassified misdemeanor, and punishable by up to a one thousand-dollar ($1,000.00) fine and up to five hundred (500) hours of community service. If an individual has more than one conviction for a violation of this section within a three year period, a violation of this section shall be a misdemeanor of the fourth degree, punishable but up to thirty (30) days in jail and a fine not to exceed two-hundred fifty dollars ($250.00).
   Each separate violation of this section shall be considered a new offense and punishable according to the provisions herein. (Ord. 20-2023. Passed 6-6-23.)
