The employees of the department shall be employed by the Village President, by and with the consent of the Board of Trustees. The Village President, by and with the consent of the Board of Trustees, may designate one such employee of the department as the Chief of Police. Employees of the department shall work such hours each week as designated by the Chief of Police, but not to exceed the maximum number of hours established by the Board of Trustees or Village President, unless previously specifically authorized in writing by the Village President.
