4-4-6: FALSE REPRESENTATION PROHIBITED:
   A.   It shall be unlawful for any peddler or solicitor to solicit orders, or to make sales of goods, merchandise, magazines, services or wares, or to enter into contracts, where any money or other valuable consideration is sought, asked for or received in advance from any person within the Village and before the entire completion and fulfillment of the order, sale or contract on the part of the peddler or solicitor, or his principal, unless said peddler or solicitor in fact represents the principal for whom he purports to act, and unless the said peddler or solicitor further supplies satisfactory proof that he will and is financially able to account for all monies and considerations received by him in advance on said order, sale or contract.    B.   The Police Committee Chairperson, in his discretion and at the expense of the peddler or solicitor, may telephone, telegraph or otherwise communicate with the alleged principal to verify the alleged agency. (1987 Code § 3-5-6; amd. 2018 Code)
