Upon annexation of township territory to the City of Bryan, the township zoning regulations then in effect shall remain in full force and shall be enforced by the township officials until the Council adopts zoning regulations for the property. As an alternative to the procedures set forth in Chapter 1114, Council may, after a report and recommendation by the Planning Commission, by ordinance made at or prior to the time of its acceptance of township territory for annexation, classify all or any part of territory annexed to the City in such other district or districts as Council may determine. Such ordinance shall follow the procedures for zoning amendment established in Chapter 1114. Such ordinance shall not be passed as an emergency measure.
