290.01 NONAPPEARANCE.
   In any case to be tried in the Mayor's Court, no defendant or other party required to appear shall fail to appear without proper, reasonable notice or, having thereafter voluntar ily appeared or been brought before the Court by a bench warrant or other legal arrest, shall fail to explain his nonappearance to the satisfaction of the Court. Such failure to appear or to explain a nonappearance shall cause such person to be held in contempt of Court and shall subject him to the penalty provided in Section 290.99.
