1476.01 UNSAFE BUILDING.
   (a)    Any building, structure, or portion thereof which is structurally unsafe or unsanitary, which is not provided with safe, adequate means of egress, which constitutes a fire hazard or is otherwise dangerous to human life or which, in relation to its existing use, constitutes a safety or health hazard by reason of inadequate maintenance, dilapidation, obsolescence or abandonment is hereby deemed to be an unsafe structure. Unsafe structures are hereby prohibited and shall be repaired or rehabilitated or demolished in accordance with the procedures set forth in this chapter.
   (b)    Any building, structure, or portion thereof that has been abandoned and/or is no longer used for its intended purpose shall be secured to the extent that would prohibit access to the interior of the structure. All openings, glass windows or doors shall be securely covered with a material of similar color and design as the existing structure that would prohibit entry into the structure.
   (c)    It shall be the responsibility of the owner or agent of the owner of an abandoned building, structure or portion thereof to advise the City of Brunswick, Division of Building of the status of all utility connections and security/fire alarms. The name, address, and phone number of the owner or agent shall also be provided for the purpose of emergency notification.
