648.05 GASOLINE ENGINES.
   (a)    No person shall use or operate any gasoline engine within the City, unless such engine is equipped with a muffler which is closed. No person shall use or operate any gasoline or other internal combustion engine within the City which, either by reason of being equipped with a so-called "Hollywood" type of muffler from which the baffles have been removed or with a muffler which is in a broken or defective condition, emits, during its operation, such excessively loud noises as to disturb the peace and quiet of the City. Any noise which can be distinctly heard at a distance of more than 100 feet from its source shall be deemed excessive.

   (b)   Whoever violates or fails to comply with this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. A separate offense shall be deemed committed each day during or on which a violation or noncompliance occurs or continues. Punishment shall be as provided in Section 698.02.
