For the purpose of this chapter, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
ITINERANT MERCHANT. Any transient person who shall engage temporarily in the making or selling of any kind of goods, wares, or merchandise, including the making and selling of photographs within the town, regardless of whether the goods, wares, or merchandise are peddled from house to house, sold upon the streets or other public places, or sold from any room, building, structure, or lot rented or leased for the purpose of carrying on the business. The operation of food trucks shall not be included in the definition of ITINERANT MERCHANT. The operation of food trucks shall be controlled by § 110.07.
SOLICITOR. Any person calling at residences or other places in the town without the previous consent of the occupant for the purpose of soliciting orders, sales, subscriptions, or business of any kind for future delivery, provided, however, that this chapter shall apply only to SOLICITORS who demand, accept, or receive payment or a deposit of money in advance of final delivery. SOLICITOR shall further include any person calling from house to house or place to place in the town without the previous consent of the owner seeking information or donations.
