(A) The appointment, term, oath, and bond of the Commissioners shall be as prescribed by I.C. 36-8-9-3.1. The Commissioners shall be appointed to serve for a term of three (3) years expiring on January 1 after the member’s appointment. The term of Board members will be staggered and not more than two (2) Board members may expire each year. The term of the Town Council Member who is appointed to the Police Commission shall not exceed the shorter of (a) three (3) years; or (b) their term of office on the Town Council. Upon leaving office as a Town Council Member, any appointment to the Board of Police Commissioners terminates. Active police officers may not serve as Board members.

(B) The salary of the Commissioners shall be fixed by the Town Council and is payable out of the treasury of the Town. Any Commissioner who is also a Town Council member may not receive any remuneration for their service on the Board of Police Commissioners. (`92 Code, § 2-54)
(C) Unless a board member is a member of the Town Council, he or she shall give bond in the penal sum of five thousand dollars ($5,000), payable to the state and conditioned upon the faithful and honest discharge of the Member’s duties. The bond must be approved by the Town Council.
(D) Each Commissioner shall be subject to removal from office by the Town Council for any cause that the Council considers sufficient. (`92 Code, § 2-55)
