Any dog, cat or other animal found running at large in the Municipality shall be impounded by the Municipality. Upon impoundment, the Municipal Animal Officer shall deliver such dog, cat or other animal to the Montgomery County Animal Shelter where it will be held for a minimum period of seventy-two hours, during which time the owner may redeem such animal at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter by paying those fees as established by Montgomery County and obtaining, if necessary, a valid registration tag. After the minimum seventy-two hours holding period such animal may be disposed of at the animal shelter. The payment or any fee and redemption of an impounded animal shall not be a bar to prosecution under this chapter.
